The First Amendment protects our freedom of religion and speech. Does our Constitution also protect preaching the duty of jihad to Muslims?
The certified English translation of codified Islamic sharia law is “Reliance of the Traveller, the Classic Manual of Sacred Islamic Law.” The compilation was authenticated by both the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) and Al Ahzar University in Cairo, the preeminent teaching center of sharia law.
Islamic sharia law says that both the greater and lesser jihad are mandatory for believers. Islamists call violent jihad the “lesser jihad” and the spiritual struggle the “greater jihad.” But according to the Reliance of the Traveller, Section o9.0 the discussion of “jihad” begins this way:
“Jihad means to war against non-Muslims and is etymologically derived from the word mujahada, signifying warfare to establish the religion…”
“Details concerning jihad are found in the accounts of the military expeditions of the Prophet…,including his own martial forays and those on which he dispatched others. o9.0
Sharia law imposes a communal obligation regarding this “lesser jihad” recounting that “[i]n the time of the Prophet jihad was a communal obligation after his emigration (hijra) to Medina.” (o9.1). Is the law’s emphasis on the violent jihad because it was Mohammed’s violent Medinian jihad (the offensive jihad), that helped spread Islam? Is it because every Muslim has a religious duty to convert “non-believers” either by persuasion or force?
If Mohammed is the perfect Muslim that all Muslims are to emulate and an imam in a mosque preaches jihad and a worshipper then commits jihad, is the imam’s speech protected religious speech or speech that incites violence which may not be protected by our constitution? For example:
former Islamic Center of Tennessee Imam Abdullah al Ansari directed his listeners (at 5:12), that “He [Allah] told us to fight the Jews and Christians. Fight them until they give jizya. They give this protective tax from their hands and they are humiliated and subdued. If Islam, true Islam and true Muslims do not rule there will never be justice.” (almost word for word Koran 9:29; Reliance o9.8 – Objectives of Jihad p.602
Boston Imam Abdullah Faarooq exhorted the listening worshippers that “[y]ou must grab on to this rope, grab on to the typewriter, grab on to the shovel, grab on to the gun and the sword, don’t be afraid to step out into this world and do your job.”
In 2009, the FBI estimated that “Imams preach jihad and extremism in 10 percent of the 2,000 mosques in the United States.” A 2011 random survey of 100 mosques by the Terrorism Research Initiative, found that 80% of the mosques preached jihad either through sermons and/or materials.
The California based Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America (AMJA) issues fatwas,(authoritative religious rulings that guide Muslims living in the West) on issues such as condoning death for apostates, marital rape and female genital mutilation. AMJA also hosts an annual Imams training conference.
Regarding the instigation of offensive jihad in America, an AMJA fatwa translated from Arabic states that “the Islamic community does not possess the strength to engage in offensive jihad at this time. With our current capabilities, we are aspiring towards defensive jihad, and to improve our position with regards to jurisprudence at this stage. But there is a different discussion for each situation. Allah Almighty knows best.”
Memphis Imam Yasir Qadhi is a frequent speaker at the AMJA imams training conference. Shaykh Waleed Basyouni, the vice-president of Qadhi’s AlMaghrib Institute, is also on the AMJA fatwa committee.
Sayyid Qutb, a a “leading theorist of violent jihad” and Muslim Brotherhood “intellectual godfather,” promoted offensive/violent jihad to establish Islam’s supremacy over infidels and all other religions. The mosques attended by the Chattanooga jihadist and the one attended by the Boston marathon jihad bombers are both owned by a Muslim Brotherhood organization.
In Incitement in the Mosques: Testing the Limits of Free Speech and Religious Liberty, University of Baltimore Law professor Kenneth Lasson explains that according to the U.S. Supreme Court’s Brandenberg case on free speech, “…the government could limit speech that is directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action that is likely to incite or produce such action.”
He notes that the First Amendment does not protect what he calls “camouflaged incitement” – “…language that can be considered coded speech, guns for hire, inducement by simulation or supplying how-to plans are all suspect.” He suggests that clerics deliver sermons with the intent to “encourage action… Religion moves followers to act on their beliefs.”
Bill Warner’s “Statistical Islam” shows that 98% of the Hadith and roughly three-quarters of the Sira’s references are to jihad of the sword (the “lesser jihad”).
So, against the backdrop of violent jihad like 9-11, the Boston marathon bombings, the Chattanooga murders, the Fort Hood killing spree, the murder of Pvt. Andrew Long by Abdulhakim Mohammed, is it incitement to violence when imams read from the Quran, the Sira and Hadith, and claim that Mohammed is the example for all Muslims to follow? Or press believers to follow Islamic sharia law? So, how close in time does the violent jihad have to be to be considered “imminent”? And last but not least, should these imams be protected by the First Amendment if they preach the religious duty of the “lesser” jihad?
Law professor Kenneth Lasson gives a pragmatic answer: “[t]errorism creates a kind of permanent imminence. When messages advocating murderous violence are heard by large numbers of people, the government should have the authority to stop the speakers. There is no democratic value in protecting clerics who exhort their listeners to kill Jews and Americans wherever you can find them.”
A 2015 poll conducted by the Polling Company for the Center for Security Policy found that 51% of Muslims living in U.S. want sharia law to govern their lives.
The textbook “What Islam Is All About” used at Anoor Academy, the private Islamic school in Knoxville, says that an Islamic society governed by Islamic sharia law is best and that the way for Muslims to “become great again” is by “establishing the power of Islam in the world.”
The certified English translation of codified sharia law is easily accessible in the “Reliance of the Traveller, the Classic Manual of Sacred Islamic Law.” This compilation of sharia law was authenticated by both the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA)* and Al Ahzar University in Cairo, the preeminent teaching center of sharia law. The book is available from Amazon or can be read on line. A complete PDF is also posted in the Documents tab on this blog.
Al Ahzar University is at the forefront of the Islamist movement by their training o f Islamic radicals tied to the Muslim Brotherhood. It is an established institution known for the propagation of Islam and sharia as a complete way of life. Al Ahzar’s leadership denounces secular Muslims but remains unwilling to renounce ISIS.
Murfreesboro imam, Osama Bahloul was trained at Al Ahzar. Other imams in Tennessee, like Memphis imam Yasir Qadhi were trained in Saudi Arabia where sharia law is strictly enforced.
Political Islamist Paul “Iesa” Galloway, a former CAIR director, and is now Executive Director for AMAC (American Muslim Advisory Council) and ACO (American Center for Outreach), says if you want to know about Islam, ask a Muslim.
TN 4 Political Justice say better yet, use sourced materials from the expert Islamic scholars at Al Ahzar.
Following are excerpts from the Reliance of the Traveller about the Islamic sharia law that Paul “Iesa” Galloway and his Muslim community are supposed to be following.
Tennessee law versus sharia law (ROT citations are to the Reliance of the Traveller)
“All power is inherent in the people and all free governments are founded on their authority”…and they have the right at all times, “to alter, reform or abolish the government…”
ROT, o25.1, o25.5
Obedience will be to the Caliph, “…namely the leader with authority over us.”
Art. 1 Sec. 3 of the Tennessee Constitution
“That all men have a natural and indefeasible right to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of their own conscience..”
“Someone raised among Muslims who denies the obligatoriness of the prayer, zakat, fasting Ramadan, the pilgrimage, or the unlawfulness of wine and adultery [ie, the 5 pillars], or denies something else upon which there is scholarly consensus and which is necessarily known as being of the religion…thereby becomes an unbeliever (kafir) and is executed for his unbelief.”
“Apostasy from Islam. In such a case, it is obligatory for the caliph to ask him to repent and to return to Islam. If he does, it is accepted from him, but if he refuses, he is immediately killed.”
Art. 1 Sec. 4 of the Tennessee Constitution
“That no political or religious test, other than an oath to support the Constitution of the United States and of this state, shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under this state.”
ROT o25.3 The Qualifications of the Caliph
“(d) male (K: to be able to devote himself full-time to the task, and to mix with men, the leadership of a woman being invalid because of the rigorously authenticated hadith,
[a] people that leaves its leadership to a woman will never succeed.”
Tennessee Code Annotated 32-2-104 regarding inheritance
A son and daughter of someone who dies without a will, will share equally in whatever part of the estate is left after the surviving spouse takes their statutory share.
A son and daughter who are siblings “of the same generation as her and of the same strength (N: i.e. both are full or half siblings)… the male receives the portion of two females.”
Tennessee Code Annotated 36-6-101 – divorce and custody of children
Custody of minor children can be to one parent or to both jointly for what is in the “welfare and interest” of the child or children
“A woman has no right to custody (A: of her child from a previous marriage) when she remarries…”
Other rules under sharia law discordant with a free society
“A husband is entitled to discipline his wife for not giving him his rights (def: m5.1).”
“It is obligatory for a woman to let her husband have sex with her immediately when:
(a) he asks her;
(b) at home
(c) and she can physically endure it.
(d) another condition that should be added is that her marriage payment has
been received or deferred to a term not yet expired.
As for when sex with her is not possible, such that having it would entail manifest harm to her, then she is not obliged to comply. If she asks him to wait, she is awaited to a maximum of three days.”
“It is offensive to send one’s children to a day-care center run by non-Muslims. It is unlawful to send Muslim children to Christian schools, or those which are designedly atheist, though it is not unlawful to send them to public schools in which religion is not mentioned (N: in a way that threatens the students’ belief in Islam).”
“The caliph (o25) makes war upon Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians (N: provided that he has first invited them to enter Islam in faith and practice, and if they will not, then invited them to enter the social order of Islam by paying the non-Muslim poll tax (jizya, def:o11.4) which is the significance of their paying it, not the money itself – while remaining in their ancestral religions) (O: and the war continues) until they become Muslim or else pay the non-Muslim poll tax…”
ROT p17.3 -regarding homosexuality
“The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said:
(1) ‘Kill the one who sodomizes and the one who lets it be done to him.’
(2) ‘May Allah curse him who does what Lot’s people did.’
(3) ‘Lesbianism by women is adultery between them.”
Sets out certain rules for non-Muslim dhimmis living in a Muslim-majority community. The rules include dressing in a way that distinguishes the non-Muslim from a Muslim, not walking on the same side of the street as a Muslim, not constructing any building higher than the Muslims’ buildings, being forbidden to openly display wine or pork or build new churches.
Memphis imam Yasir Qadhi (around 8:53), says “we are loyal to our countries insofar as it does not interfere with our religion of Islam.”
Sharia law tribunals like the one in Texas claim adjudication by them is “voluntary” but they follow the religion’s requirement to follow sharia law. Leftists, multi-culturalists and Islamist lawyers continue to push for including Islamic sharia family law in the U.S. legal system.
During a 2013 CAIR program Hassan Shibly, Exec. Dir. CAIR-Florida, said that “Muslims have more civil liberties in America than they do in any so-called Muslim countries.”
Finally, an admission about the repressive nature of Islamic Sharia law. So why does CAIR and every other Islamo-centric organization keep telling us that Sharia law is compatible with the U.S. Constitution?
Sharia law cannot be reconciled with Tennessee law. But laws can be changed both formally and informally if we allow it to happen.
*Newsletter #86 has more information about Fiqh Council of North America members who have been arrested, deported and named as unindicted co-conspirators in connection with terrorist activities.
**another helpful source is the Amazon best-seller
The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society announced that they will drop the word “Hebrew” and go simply by “HIAS.” They are one of the national federal refugee resettlement contractors screaming for Obama to admit at least 200,000 Syrian refugees regardless of valid security and cost concerns. HIAS and the other resettlement industry contractors have criticized Obama’s measly 10,000 Syrians that he has begun bringing to the U.S. This number of 10,000 is on top of the 70,000 plus of the mostly-sharia-compliant refugees from Islamic America-hating countries.
HIAS, like all resettlement businesses whose revenue is overwhelimingly government money, try to camouflage their extreme political leftism using religious organizational labels. They claim a moral superiority because “they save lives.”
The URJ also supports “Free Choice in Abortion.”
The URJ has a political arm called the Religious Action Center (RAC) whose work and policy positions are “mandated” by the URJ and the various arms of the Reform Jewish movement. The Nashville Temple Ohabai Sholom in Nashville, is a Reform Jewish congregation and a member of the URJ, a recipient of URJ grant money, and as the Temple’s rabbi Shana Mackler says, is a proud supporter of Planned Parenthood.
The Temple is led by senior rabbi Mark Schiftan who shares the URJ’s love of Muslim Islamists. URJ’s immediate past president, rabbi Eric Yoffe, was one of the first Jewish leaders to speak at the annual ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) convention. ISNA was founded by members of the Muslim Brotherhood’s first U.S. organization, the Muslim Students Association (MSA). ISNA was also named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) trial for financing the terrorist group HAMAS. HAMAS, a U.S. designated terrorist organization, the jihadist arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, is dedicated to the destruction of Israel.
Rabbi Schiftan says that Islamists who support the Muslim Brotherhood and HAMAS, are not enemies, just “opponents.” So the Murfreesboro mosque hosting HAMAS supporters like CAIR executive director Nihad Awad and senior Muslim Brotherhood leader and unindicted co-conspirator Jamal Badawi, was not reason enough to keep Schiftan from hauling his congregation to a mosque love-fest. Nor is the fundamentalism of imams trained at Al Ahzar University, the preeminent teaching center of sharia law, enough to keep Schiftan from looking for every public opportunity to validate an ideology focused on destroying Israel.
Yoffe has called John Hagee, an extremist. Hagee is the leader of CUFI (Christians United for Israel), one of Israel’s largest allies and advocates in the U.S. Leftists like Yoffe, and his “Torah of Liberalism” puts support for gays and abortion above sincere and impactful advocacy for the Jewish ancestral homeland.
Abbie Wolf, the Nashville Jewish Federation’s director of the Community Relations Council, shares Yoffe’s pro-Muslim bias and Christianophobia. In advance of a Nashville visit by CUFI’s Executive Director, Wolf published a piece titled “Christian Zionism – do the Concerns Outweigh the Benefits?” She says that the only real value Christian Zionist lovers of Israel bring to the table, is their large voting bloc and their money.
Like Yoffe, Wolf denounces Christian lovers of Israel because they don’t equally love Islamists like HAMAS and other Muslim Brotherhood followers.
Islamist ideology is obsessed with the destruction of Jews and Israel. Do political leftists who actively deny and abet the Islamist plan even deserve to call themselves Jews?
The next time the open border/illegal immigration advocates over at TIRRC (TN Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition) call you unwelcoming, remind them that illegal immigrants are lawbreakers. Tell them there is no such thing as a “law-biding” illegal immigrant. Tell them that using the term “illegal alien” is the correct term that is used in our statutes to identify people who are nationals of other countries and who enter the U.S. illegally. Illegal alien is the definition of someone who breaks our immigration laws.
Tell them that our immigration laws do not refer to “undocumented immigrants.” Tell them you know there are plenty of fraudulent ways for illegal aliens to get “documents.” That still doesn’t make them legal inside the U.S. according to our law.
The next time the Islamic sharia law adherent board members of AMAC (American Muslim Advisory Council) call you xenophobic because you are concerned about taking more Muslim refugees, remind them that their own board member and founder, Drost Kokoye says this:
Since being an American isn’t good enough for Drost, remind her that her Kurdish homeland needs fighters and will even take those that do little more than talk the talk.
Here’s what Drost says about the country that welcomed her and her family and has given them the freedoms they never had:
The next time Paul “Iesa” Galloway, director of the ACO (American Center for Outreach) claims the Islamists are the real victims, remind him that we know he is CAIR’s Muslim Brotherhood mouthpiece in Tennessee, and that CAIR supports the Muslim Brotherhood’s terrorist arm HAMAS. Tell him we don’t want his Islamic sharia law here.
The next time you question paying federal refugee contractors to bring in American-hating sharia-adherents who use our freedoms to subvert the very system of government that gives them that freedom, think about Paris as an example to justify your concerns.
Or the fact that Islamic supremacist Memphis Imam Yasir Qadhi says he is actively counseling youths who are sympathetic to ISIS, to turn away. Of course he doesn’t want to be blamed if they don’t listen to him – like his former student turned terrorist, convicted Christmas Day bomber, Daniel Maldonado. Or maybe Qadhi is concerned about the fact that his media company used to sell recordings by al-Qaeda terrorist Anwar Awalaki.
And where does Yasir Qadhi’s loyalty lie?
Qadhi says, “we are loyal to our countries insofar as it does not interfere with our religion of Islam.”
Are these citizens of the United States of America or citizens loyal to Islam?
The Muslim Brotherhood was founded for the purpose of rejecting Western civilization and replacing it with global sharia law by restoring the Caliphate.
Tennessee’s Islamists select imams and speakers to reinforce this objective and influence younger Muslims.
Imams educated at Al Ahzar University in Egypt
Al Ahzar University is credited with starting the Islamist movement by training Islamic radicals tied to Muslim Brotherhood and stands for the propagation of Islam and sharia as a complete way of life. Considered the preeminent teaching center of sharia law Al Ahzar authenticated the English translation of “The Reliance of the Traveller, The Classic Manual of Islamic Sacred Law.”
Excerpts from “Reliance of the Traveller” include:
- “the Objectives of Jihad” 8 – … wars against Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians if they don’t accept the invitation to Islam or they can pay the non-Muslim poll tax (jizya)
- “Giving Zakat to Deserving Recipients” 17 (zakat is Islamic charity)- those fighting for Allah [ie, “volunteers for jihad”]
- “Dealing with a rebellious wife” 12(4)(c) – a husband may hit his wife…
- Mohammed Ahmed, former imam at the Islamic Center of Nashville (ICN). Ahmed told attendees at the June 2011 meeting of the Religion Communicators Councilthat he supported the Egyptian police forced virginity tests performed on female protesters in Tahrir Square. The imam explained: “Why? It’s a very interesting fact that the police giving you a heads up, ‘oh, those people are not virgin’. That’s mean they are not good people”
- Osama Bahloul, imam at the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro (ICM). He has a degree in Dawa (prosletyzing for Islam; his thesis was the establishment of a Dawa curriculum aimed at secularists, atheists, Christians, Jews, and Muslims.) The ICM hosted the Muslim Brotherhood unindicted co-conspirators CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad and Jamal Badawi.
Imams educated at University of Medinah, Saudi Arabia
University of Medinah in Saudi Arabia is associated with the fundamentalist Salafi branch of Sunni Islam. Salafists want to practice Islam in its most original, purest and “authentic” form without relying on cultural practices or clerical interpretations.
- AbdulRahman ibn Esa Chao, imam at the Islamic Center of Tennessee. Reported to have graduated from the University of Medinah at age 21, the youngest graduate of record. He also studied at the IIASA (Institute of Islamic and Arabic Sciences in America), located in Virginia, funded by Saudi Arabia. The Foundation for Defense of Democracies says, “[IIASA] is the largest source of Saudi hate literature in the Washington area.
- Abdulhakim Mohammed, imam at the ICN from 1999-2007 during which time he helped them set up the private Islamic school the Nashville International Academy. Born in Yemen he spent much of his early childhood in Detroit, Michigan. He spent approximately eight years at the University of Madinah in Saudi Arabia, then returned to Yemen to work managing Islamic schools and other educational programs. Prior to the ICN, he was the imam at the Islamic Center in Ann Arbor and then at the radical Brooklyn Al Farooq mosque, aka, the “al-Qaeda mosque.” This is also the mosque attended by the “blind sheik” who was convicted in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
- Yasir Qadhi, resident scholar at the Memphis Islamic Center and Dean of Academic Affairs, al Maghrib Institute. His media company used to sell recordings by al-Qaeda terrorist Anwar Awalaki. al Maghrib students include the Christmas Day bomber and convicted terrorist Daniel Maldonado. Qadhi is an International speaker and Holocaust denier, who says “we are loyal to our countries insofar as it does not interfere with our religion of Islam.” embed videos
Qadhi calls Christians and Jews spiritually “filthy.”
- Rafiq Mahdi, (formerly known as William Henderson), is a black American convert to Islam who after leaving the Nation of Islam trained in Saudi Arabia. He is considered the “unofficial imam of Knoxville” where he helped establish the Annoor Mosque. Prior to Knoxville, he led the Masjid Al-Iman in Florida, described as a “small fundamentalist mosque” which was the spiritual home of the “dirty bomber” Jose Padilla. Padilla had ties to al Qaeda and was convicted of planning a jihad attack in 2002.
Mahdi helped fundraise for the KindHearts Foundation which was shut down under suspicion of raising money for Hamas.
Imams trained at other Saudi institutions
- Abdullah Al Ansar, first imam at the Islamic Center of Tennessee. Graduate of the Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Has over 14 years of experience in dawa. Prior to ICTN he was the imam at Detroit’s Masjid Al Tawheed whose website (prior to scrubbing) published links to jihadi lectures in the UK. Al Ansari preached the following:
“He [Allah] told us to fight the Jews and Christians. Fight them until they give jizya. They give this protective tax from their hands and they are humiliated and subdued.” (embed video)
- Abdelrahman Murphy, former faculty member at Knoxville private Islamic School Annoor Academy, Youth Leader for Roots program and mentor to MSA at UT Knoxville. He completed the Imam Certificate Program in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Currently, Murphy runs the youth program at the Islamic Center of Boston, encouraging the young people to “be like Mohammed.”
Examples of speakers brought to Tennessee
- Sayyid Syeed – ISNA (Islamic Society of North America), National Director for Office of Interfaith & Community Alliances. He has also served on CAIR’s Advisory Board, president of MSA of U.S. & Canada, and director of outreach for IIIT, among other positions.
In 2006, he was videotaped saying, “Our job is to change the constitution of America.”
- Jamal Badawi – referred to by name on page 12 of the Muslim Brotherhood plan that was introduced during the Holy Land Foundation prosecution and named in the Muslim Brotherhood directory. As a result of the trial, he was named individually as an unindicted co-conspirator.Badawi was an invited speaker at the ICM.
- Nihad Awad – founding member and Executive Director of CAIR. He publicly announced his support for HAMAS whose charter calls for killing Jews. He visited multiple times at the ICM.
- Dawud Walid – director of CAIR-Michigan brought by Remziya Suleyman, ACO director in 2013 to train Muslim high school students in political activism. He has been with CAIR since 2005 so he was there when CAIR was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial in 2007. He downplays the significance of the terrorist jihadis al-Shabaab and tells young audiences that Muslims are being targeted by the FBI. embed video)
- Siraj Wahhaj – preaches that “Islam is better than democracy. Allah will cause his deen [Islam as a complete way of life], Islam to prevail over every kind of system, and you know what? It will happen.” He said, “If only Muslims were clever politically, they could take over the United States and replace its constitutional government with a caliphate.” He has served on the boards of several named Muslim Brotherhood organizations. He refuses to blame Osama bin Laden for 9-11.
- Zaid Shakir – he tells his audiences that he hopes “to see the “day in which America is a Muslim country ruled by Islamic law” and that if Islam rules, “[t]he Christian or the Jew will be a dhimmi [second-class citizen]. They won’t be equal with the Muslim.”
- Shaykh Waleed Basyouni – V.P. of Yasir Qadhi’s al-Maghrib Institute. Basyouni trained in Saudi Arabia and was a student of the late Wahhabi grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, who had forbidden women to drive. Basyouni spoke and wrote about his admiration for Ibn Jibreen, an admirer of Osama bin Laden. Basyouni is considered “one of the most important leaders of the da’wah (Islamic proselytizing) in the West.” He says that “Muslims are ‘the only people who know God’ and, as such, are uniquely righteous and clearly distinguishable from nonbelievers.
What is the Muslim Brotherhood and its history? The Muslim Brotherhood is a shadowy political movement whose ideology includes goals to restore the Caliphate and institute global sharia law. Founded in Egypt in 1928 by Hasan al-Banna, the Muslim Brotherhood was a response to the collapse of the Ottoman Empire and the loss of the Caliphate. Al-Banna wanted to revive Islamic fundamentalism and global sharia law. He said: “It is a duty incumbent on every Muslim to struggle towards the aim of making every people Muslim and the whole world Islamic, so that the banner of Islam can flutter over the earth..” He also said, “It is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated, to impose its law on all nations and to extend its power to the entire planet.”
Over 70 years later, both statements were echoed by CAIR’s co-founder, Omar Ahmad who in 1998 said that, “Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran … should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.” In 2003, CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper said that if Muslims ever became a majority in the United States, they would likely try to replace the U.S. Constitution with Islamic law because they believe it is superior to man-made law. Memphis imam Yasir Qadhi teaches (watch video): “It is not my right to legislate or your right to legislate. No Supreme Court, no system of government, no democracy where they vote. Can you believe it, a group of people coming together and voting and the majority vote will be the law of the land? What gives you the right to prohibit something or allow something?” Statements from al-Banna to Hooper to Qadhi, reflect the Brotherhood’s credo:
“Allah is our objective; the Prophet is our leader; the Quran is our law; Jihad is our way; dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.”
By 1948 the Muslim Brotherhood was banned in Egypt but returned to political power when their candidate Mohammed Morsi, was elected president in 2012. During a campaign speech, Morsi led a public recitation of the Brotherhood’s credo. Obama, along with Republicans like Sen. John McCain, made a commitment to work with Morsi. Once Morsi was in office, the Muslim Brotherhood began instituting sharia law. Mass riots erupted in response. In July 2013, Morsi was removed through a military coup. The new government designated the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization. Remziya Suleyman, former director of the Tennessee Muslim American Center for Outreach (ACO), and co-Islamist, Mohammed Elibiary, former appointee to the DHS Homeland Security Advisory Council publicly condemned the ouster of Morsi. Around the same time, Elibiary tweeted about the “inevitable return of the Caliphate,” a message subsequently used by ISIS in its recruiting efforts. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia have designated the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization. The UAE’s list includes Muslim Brotherhood affiliates CAIR and the Muslim American Society (MAS). In 2012 a Brotherhood leader acknowledged in U.S. federal court that MAS was founded by members of the Muslim Brotherhood. Tennessee even has a MAS chapter leader. Qatar also agreed to expel Muslim Brotherhood leaders. While those who best understand the DNA of the Muslim Brotherhood work to eliminate it, the U.S. State Department is pressuring the UAE to remove CAIR and MAS from the terrorist list. In January 2015, the U.S. State Department hosted an Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood delegation one of whom posted a picture of himself making the “R4BIA,” hand sign used by pro-Morsi (ie, Muslim Brotherhood) supporters. The meeting was reported to be about the Muslim Brotherhood’s efforts to regain power in Egypt. The State Department only admitted to this meeting after being exposed by The Free Beacon. In February Obama met privately at the White House with U.S. Islamist leaders including those affiliated with known Muslim Brotherhood groups that have ties to HAMAS. In the U.S., Brotherhood leaders use propaganda, interfaith activities, political organizing and front groups to deceive the public and leaders at all levels of government, that the Brotherhood is a moderate political movement compatible with the Western world. At the same time, the same Brotherhood ideologues arrogantly dismiss facts that have been proven with their own documents. For example, the U.S. designated terrorist organization HAMAS is a recognized branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. CAIR Director Nihad Awad has publicly stated his support for HAMAS. Awad, a CAIR founder, was president of the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP), an organization named ” — as one of the Brotherhood’s 29 likeminded “organizations of our friends” in the Brotherhood’s 1991 Explanatory Memorandum. This Memorandum is the Brotherhood’s plan to destroy America and turn it into a Muslim nation. Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda’s top leaders identified with the Muslim Brotherhood’s ideology, the rejection of secularism and Western influences, and the plan for worldwide Islamic domination. CAIR was started with money from the Holy Land Foundation Islamic charity (discussed in the next newsletter) and was planned to be a public relations and recruiting arm for HAMAS in the U.S. Next: the history and background on the Holy Land Foundation because you can’t understand the Muslim Brotherhood connections to Tennessee without it. Tennessee specifics will start after that.
Important information that should be passed to your state legislators.
Former American Center for Outreach (ACO) director Remziya Suleyman was the lobbyist in our state legislature for Tennessee Islamists. She and her Civic Engagement Coordinator, Drost Kokoye believed they were “run[ning] Tennessee.”
They never did and certainly aren’t anymore!
What they did do though was bring Muslim Brotherhood CAIR to Tennessee and then have it become entrenched by turning the ACO over to Paul “Iesa” [Jesus] Galloway, a former Texas CAIR director.Paul “Iesa” Galloway is now the registered lobbyist for Tennessee’s Islamists.
The lobbyist registration form names Soyab Malani as ACO’s “CFO.” He is also an original organizer and board member of the Tennessee American Muslim Advisory Council (AMAC) which recently removed all board member names and the name of its Executive Director from their website. Why? Reorganizing? Concealing the identities of who is involved?
Who is Nadeem Siddiqi?
ACO’s “lobbyist supervisor” is board chair, Nadeem Siddiqi from Knoxville. Is this the same Nadeem Siddiqi named in a 2012 lawsuit for defrauding the government by submitting false Medicare and Medicaid bills?
Siddiqi is a former Board member of the Knoxville Annoor Mosque (also known as the Muslim Community of Knoxville). He is currently a board member of the Annoor Academy, a private Islamic school that uses a textbook teaching students that Christians and Jews are immoral and inferior to Muslims.
A “Siddiqi Lecture Series” at UTKnoxville, funded by Siddiqi Holdings of Knoxville, brought Sherman Abdul Hakeem Jackson to speak this year. Jackson sits on a “scholars council” formed by the International Institute on Islamic Thought (IIIT), one of the 29 “organization of our friends” claimed by the Muslim Brotherhood in its 1991 Explanatory Memorandum plan for North America.
Jackson has been a board member of several other Muslim Brotherhood organizations including the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA), North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) and the Muslim Students Association (MSA).
Jackson promotes Islamic supremacy and dominance. He says his primary commitment is to Allah, not America, and that “Muslims and Western worlds are in conflict and competition, and that only one can end up dominant. Put simply, he wants to replace Western culture with Muslim culture.”
Is it coincidence that ties to Muslim Brotherhood organizations and individuals keep appearing in our state?
Siddiqi and Galloway are a perfect match
Siddiqi and Galloway are both active in dawa (proselytizing Islam). Both purposefully align themselves with Muslim Brotherhood ideology, organizations and individuals.
Galloway, the new lobbyist and propagandist for Tennessee Muslims, started his public Muslim Brotherhood career by setting up and directing the Houston-CAIR office. CAIR, named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism prosecution, raised money and sent it to Hamas. In 2009 a federal judge confirmed that there was “ample evidence” tying CAIR to Hamas.
Galloway and political propaganda – a perfect combination for an Islamist lobbyist
Galloway has already established himself with the Tennessee media as a go-to PR voice for the Muslim community. In the short time he has been the ACO Director, he has editorialized the difference between violent Islamists and stealth political Islamists like himself and commented on a proposed “no-go zone” bill in the state legislature.
Galloway is also busy promoting himself as a states’ rights conservative 10th Amendment Republican just like his Muslim Brotherhood-supporting mentor Mohamed Elibiary, who left his Department of Homeland Security position to “help reform the conservative movement” in advance of the 2016 election.
Will you allow your state legislator to be deceived by Galloway and his propaganda? What about Galloway’s goal to obscure subtle changes taking place in Tennessee as more mosques are being built and the size of Muslim communities grow? Galloway’s aggressive marketing of the “religion of peace” is designed to help “settle” Islam and the Islamic movement within the United States” so that as CAIR’s co-founder said in 1998:
“Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran … should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.”
