Newsletter #92 – Doesn’t Anybody Vet the Speakers?!

What is going on in Nashville?

A rabbi of what is reputed to be the largest reform Jewish congregation trips over himself to buddy up to the imam and the Murfreesboro mosque.  Now Metro Nashville public schools, some of the city’s elite private schools (certainly the most expensive), and ALL of the Jewish congregations and Jewish organizations are promoting a program called “Stronger Together.”

If you check out the panel, the not so subtle message is ‘all of us minorities together against the big bad Christian majority.’  (This has that “special” Hedy Weinberg director of the TN-ACLU mark on it.)

The announcement says that the Jewish Federation’s Community Relations Council (CRC) has organized this event.  Presumably, they also picked the panelists, including the American Center for Outreach (ACO) director, Remziya Suleyman. This should come as no surprise since it looks like the CRC has been collaborating with anti-American leftists including the TN-ACLU on other projects.

The JCRC’s current chairman is Nashville lawyer, Mr. Irwin Venick.  The immediate past chairman is Mr. Avi Poster who is pictured and heavily involved with the CRC’s immigration coalition and the Family of Abraham events. Former JCRC chairman Avi Poster has been a member of the TN Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition Board of Directors since at least 2009.

Irwin Venick, a member of the The Temple, whose members will soon be visiting the Murfreesboro mosque, was part of the host committee of the first Family of Abraham event in Nashville.  So it should come as no surprise that the CRC and its associated activities have taken up promoting both Ms. Suleyman and the Islamist cause in Tennessee.

There has been plenty documented (and easily found on the internet), about Ms. Suleyman’s relationship with CAIR – herehere, and here (video) but that doesn’t seem to be an obstacle for the Jewish Federation.  CAIR is a branch of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood.  Not only was CAIR named an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorism financing prosecution in the U.S., but CAIR’s ties to Hamas were confirmed a second time in 2009 when CAIR tried to have its unindicted co-conspirator status removed.  Federal Judge Solis stated unequivocally, that there was “ample evidence” tying CAIR to Hamas.

An interesting aside.  The video in the link above includes a picture of Ms. Suleyman and her friend Linda Sarsour at CAIR’s national 2012 banquet.  Ms. Sarsour, CAIR’s 2013 American Muslim of the Year can also take credit for tweeting that “[n]othing is creepier than Zionism.”  Read more about her here.

If you spend just a little more time tooling around the internet, you can discover Ms. Suleyman’s admiration for both the Nation of Islam and Rev. Al Sharpton, those notable friends of the Jews and Israel!  And the Jewish community in Nashville considers her a friend?  They are deluded.

The Jewish Federation CRC’s director is Abbie Wolf, whose resume shows that she has previously worked for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). In addition to confirming CAIR’s Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas ties, the ADL website adds this information about CAIR:

“CAIR also continues to offer a platform to conspiratorial Israel-bashers and outright anti-Semites.  For example, CAIR’s Florida chapter operates a Web site that makes anti-Semitic material available for visitors interested in learning about Islam. CAIR also organizes anti-Israel rallies during which protestors and speakers engage in anti-Semitic rhetoric, use offensive Holocaust imagery likening Jews and Israelis to Nazis, and express support for terror groups.”

So how exactly did Ms. Wolf vet her speakers?  Obviously she didn’t.  And she didn’t deem it necessary to have any “other” panelists from minority religions like the Hindus, who have the largest Hindu temple in the southeast in Nashville, or the Buddhists including the Vietnamese and Thai who’ve lived in Nashville for years.  But those groups don’t fit the ACLU/TIRRC/Alinskyite narrative of divisiveness, do they?
